Kakegurui Live Action Drama Casts Lead Character

Popular actress Hamabe Minami has been cast in the leading role of Jabami Yumeko in the upcoming live action drama adaptation of Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler.

Hamabe has previously starred in the TV drama special of Anohana as Menma, as well as the live action movie Let Me Eat Your Pancreas. In a departure from the roles Hamabe has played so far in her career, Yumeko is an elegant girl but discovers a new side of herself when she starts gambling, toying with her opponents by making use of her usual powers of insight, memory, and negotiation.

Inspired by the manga by Kawamoto Homura, Kakegurui is set at an elite private academy in which the children of the rich and famous decide the school hierarchy by betting their fortunes against each other. The live action drama adaptation will be directed by Hanabusa Tsutomu and is set to air on MBS and TBS from January 2018.
