DiDio Reveals How King Pitched Mister Miracle

At the DC in DC event, DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio confessed that the critical hit series Mister Miracle by Tom King and Mitch Gerads actually came from a 1 am conversation at a bar during Baltimore Comic Con.

In an interview with Multiversity, DiDio recalled, “Tom King and I were at a bar at one o’clock in the morning at the Baltimore Comic Con. I went to him, and I asked, you know I had told him I had loved what he had done over in Marvel with the Vision. I said, ‘Could you bring that same level of creativity here at DC?’ He said, ‘Give me a list of characters.’”

“After talking, he settled on Mister Miracle, and I think you can’t argue that the end results were nothing less than spectacular about how he pulled that book together, so that’s been great,” he added.

And the rest, it would seem, was history. DiDio was quick to praise the way Mister Miracle has performed since its launch in the summer of last year, so, really, you can’t argue with the results — no matter how informal the process of pitching the concept originally was.

Mister Miracle #6, the latest issue, is now on sale. Issue #7 is due out on March 14.
