Johns, DC’s president and chief creative officer, shared a photo of the cover of the script he wrote for Episode 5, fittingly titled “Doom Patrol.”

Created by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani, the Doom Patrol debuted in 1963 in My Greatest Adventure #80. Unlike the Justice League, which were presented as larger-than-life heroes, the Doom Patrol were viewed as outcasts and misfits; they were even labeled as “The World’s Strangest Heroes” on the cover of their own comic. One of the main characters on Titans, Beast Boy, was originally a member of DC’s Doom Patrol, following his adoption by founding member Elasti-Girl and her husband Steve Dayton, aka Mento.
