Scarlet Witch Actor Doesn’t Want a Solo Movie

When Wonder Woman hit theaters last summer, it quickly proved the desire for more female-led superhero films — and female-led films in general. And studios are slowly beginning to take notice. Along with Wonder Woman 2, set to enter production this summer, DC is also developing a Batgirl film, as well as various Harley Quinn-fronted projects. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios is officially in production on Captain Marvel, and a Black Widow film has finally been confirmed to be in development. However, there’s one MCU star that has no interest in leading her own solo film: Scarlet Witch actor Elizabeth Olsen.

In an interview with Danny Pellegrino for his podcast, the Infinity War star was asked if a potential Scarlet Witch solo flick was in the works. While Olsen was quick to note her enjoyment in playing the character and getting to be a part of this massive universe, she responded by stating it wasn’t a matter that she was “pushing” for, but that she often jokes Scarlet Witch and Vision are set for a “domestic television show on Netflix.”

“We are at ground zero. It’s definitely not something I’m pushing. I don’t know if it’s something they’re going to push either. [Avengers costar] Paul Bettany and I joke about having a domestic television show on Netflix or something. It would just be like a house event, where Scarlet Witch goes bananas. That’s what we joke about, but I don’t think either of those things are happening. I’m happy I’m still around and they still use me.”

Despite only joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2014, Olsen’s Wanda Mamixoff has quickly proven to be an important character within the MCU. Following the death of her brother, Quicksilver, in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Wanda officially became an Avenger and played a vital part regarding the Sokovia Accords for 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. And while plenty is still unknown when it comes to Avengers: Infinity War — and will likely remain that way thanks to the #ThanosDemandsYourSilence campaign — Olsen previously confirmed the film will explore the relationship between Wanda and Vision, an arc Olsen is excited to bring to the big screen.

With Infinity War set to hit theaters later this month, we’ll finally get to see what becomes of our favorite heroes, including Scarlet Witch, and whether or not they can successfully take down the Mad Titan, Thanos. For now, one thing is for sure: Olsen isn’t pushing to make a solo Scarlet Witch film.
