Shane Black’s Predator Trailer Release Date

If a few cryptic hints from 20th Century Fox and the film’s stars are any indication, the first trailer for Shane Black’s The Predator will drop tomorrow. Fox tweeted out a mysterious teaser, with some of the film’s stars also teasing online that “tomorrow… something is coming.”

The studio’s very brief teaser showcases the Predator’s battle gauntlet setting what seems to be a countdown, in homage to an iconic sequence from the franchise where the bounty hunter goes into self-destruct mode. Stars like Jake Busey, Keegan Michael-Key and Trevante Rhodes also spread the buzz for the action flick on their own Twitter accounts.

The movie wrapped production in June 2017, but reshoots — which began in March — involved a major overhaul of the third act. The Predator will act as a sequel to the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film about a team of commandos marooned in the Central American jungle, where they encounter a murderous extraterrestrial warrior hunting them as game.

Black’s follow-up will now see humanity encountering a few new Predators that have been genetically upgraded — but this time they won’t be in the jungle. Instead, the film takes a page out of the Alien vs. Predator franchise and Predator 2, moving the human-vs-creature action back to a suburban setting.

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

Co-written and directed by Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Iron Man 3), The Predator stars Thomas Jane, Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Alfie Allen, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, Yvonne Strahovski, Jacob Tremblay, Jake Busey, Trevante Rhodes and Edward James Olmos. The film opens September 14.
