Harvey Birdman is headed back to Adult Swim this fall, with one heck of a promotion.
Nearly 11 years after the conclusion of Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, the former superhero turned lawyer for the cartoon elite will return for a half-hour animated special, Harvey Birdman, Attorney General.

In the special, megalomaniac billionaire — and Sebben & Sebben law firm co-founder — Phil Ken Sebben is the president of the United States, and (of course) has selected Harvey Birdman as his attorney general. So, now it’s up to Harvey to find a way to remove Phil from office, “before everyone starts to worry it’s more than the ridiculous plot to an animated show.”
Gary Cole will reprise his role as Harvey Birdman, joined by Stephen Colbert as Phil Ken Sebben, John Michael Higgins as Mentok the Mindtaker, Paget Brewster as Birdgirl, Chris Edgerly as Peter Potamus, Peter MacNicol as X the Eliminator and Phil LaMarr as Black Vulcan.
“This is a great day for our country and for no one else,” co-creator Erik Richter said in a statement.
Airing for four seasons, from 2000 to 2007, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, recasts the superhero from the short-lived Hanna-Barbera animated series Birdman and the Galaxy Trio as a lawyer who works alongside, and represents, other 1960s and ’70s cartoon characters.
