Tom Holland Responds to Stan Lee’s Spider-Man Compliment

Marvel Studios actors frequently routinely give shoutouts to Stan Lee in interviews and on social media, but it’s not often that the co-creator of the Marvel Universe returns the favor. Less than a week after the 95-year-old Lee wrote his first tweet himself, he hailed Tom Holland as “a great Spider-Man.” Now the young actor has responded to the high praise.

“Thanks very much Stan,” the 21-year-old Holland wrote on Sunday. “It all started with you sir. Looking forward to catching up soon bud.”

Lee had written on Saturday that, “He is the exact height and age I envisioned when I first wrote Spider-Man. Spidey was never supposed to be too large.”

Holland debuted as Peter Parker in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, and reprised the role in last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, and again in Avengers: Infinity War. For many fans, he’s already cemented himself as the definitive Spider-Man, following turns by Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield. What could be more of a feather in an actor’s cap than to be told by one of the character’s creators that he’s “great”?

Now that Lee has confirmed he has taken control of his Twitter account, we may expect to see him interact more with other creators and actors.
