Arrow Season 7 Details Hint at Ted Kord’s Arrival

Following the departure of Willa Holland’s Thea Queen and the loss of Paul Blackthorne’s Quentin Lance, Arrow fans have been searching for clues about who might fill out the cast in Season 7. Colton Haynes’ Arsenal is returning as a series regular, and Batwoman will make her Arrowverse debut during the annual crossover, but the drama is also adding a pair of other characters — one of whom may have DC comics roots.

The first is a young female recruit to the Star City Police Department who’s fed up with vigilantes. However, it’s the other character who’s attracted the most interest.

ThatHashtagShow notes that Arrow is searching for a Caucasian actor in his mid-30s for the role of “Daniel Porter” (a placeholder name, of course), described as a successful, gay technological entrepreneur who has suffered tragic losses Altthat he attempts to hide from those around him. Although it’s possible “Daniel” is an original character, the website theorizes that he’s actually Ted Kord, the fan-favorite second Blue Beetle, who was first mentioned way back in Arrow‘s first season.

When Arrow was looking to cast Ray Palmer in Season 3, the character was also referred to as “Daniel” in the notices. Going hand in hand with that is the rumors that Ray Palmer was originally intended to be Ted Kord, and the two have very similar traits listed in their casting calls.
