Chris Pratt delivered a speech of his own making at the MTV Movie & TV Awards on June 18 as the event’s Our Generation Award recipient, presented by Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Aubrey Plaza (Legion, Ingrid Goes West). Pratt started out by thanking friends and family for making his success possible, but then dovetailed into nine pieces of advice the current generation should adhere to.

Some of Pratt’s advice was downright practical, like “remember to breathe” and “don’t be a turd,” lest you become a bully by wielding your strength or intelligence against the weak. Some of Pratt’s advice also took on a religious tone, as he claimed that God is real and benevolent. Then, of course, there was some more… humorous advice.
The sillier bullet points on Pratt’s list included a method for feeding a dog medicine (put it in a little piece of hamburger) and how to minimize the smell of defecation at a house party. For a clear-cut, graphic explanation of the latter, check out the video above.
