Bryan Singer May Lose His EP Credit on The Gifted

After receiving a second season pick-up earlier today from Fox, the network is said to be “reviewing” Bryan Singer’s executive producer credit following sexual misconduct allegations made against the director.

Despite Fox including Bryan Singer’s EP credit in the official press release announcing the show’s second season, it appears the network is now reviewing the director’s credit following a series of sexual misconduct allegations against him. According Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn, who spoke to Deadline, Singer received an executive producer credit as part of a deal that brought him on board to direct the pilot. Singer has had little day-to-day involvement with the show since the pilot wrapped production.

“As part of his deal for directing the pilot, he is an executive producer on the series. Truthfully, after he shot the pilot, he went and did a movie and had little to no involvement day-to-day in Season 1. But we take all [those] allegations very seriously, and we’re looking into it for Season 2. Right now we have a lot of time before it premieres, and we continue to have discussions about it.”

Allegations against Singer resurfaced in December when Cesar Sanchez-Guzman came forward to accuse Singer of forcing oral and anal sex on the then-17-year-old back in 2003. According to Sanchez-Guzman, Singer threatened and intimidated him to ensure his silence throughout the years. These allegations are not the first against the director, who in recent weeks has found himself fired from the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. However, they are the most recent and appear to have got the attention of higher-ups at Fox.

Singer also currently has an executive producer credit on FX’s Legion.
