It was announced today that Feige will receive the inaugural Marty & Leah Sklar Creative Visionary Award in recognition of his creative vision, as well as his “ability to bring relatable heroes to audiences through storytelling and visual effects.” The award will be presented to Feige on November 7th at the annual Ryman Arts event at Majestic Downtown in Los Angeles.

Phil Hettema, who serves as the Ryman Arts Board president, as well as president and creative executive of the Hettema Group, explained that the Marty & Leah Sklar Creative Visionary Award was established by the Ryman Arts Board in Marty’s memory, but also to celebrate the legacy of both founders of the organization. “We are thrilled that the first recipient of the award, Kevin Feige, embodies the aspiration of the award so completely,” he said. “Kevin has reimagined an entire universe of storytelling and introduced us to thrilling new worlds through his creative leadership and vision.”

Prior to presenting Feige with the award, the event will kick things off with a VIP event earlier in the evening that will include a panel about bringing the world of Wakanda to life in Black Panther. Confirmed to appear are writer Joe Robert Cole and Oscar-nominated Director of Photography Rachel Morrison. The panel will be moderated by Vice President and Executive Editor of Variety Steve Gaydos. Artists within whom have worked on the Marvel Cinematic Universe will also get to share their stories, although no names have yet been announced.

This marks the latest award for Feige, who began his career as a producer back in 2000 with X-Men for 20th Century Fox. Since then, he has gone on to establish the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Marvel Studios and Disney, a franchise that is still topping box office charts a decade in, with no signs of stopping any time soon. Most recently, it was announced that Feige would be honored by BAFTA, as well as the Producers Guild of America.
