Since Disney announced plans in August for its own digital platform, speculation has swirled about the fate of the relationship between Marvel and Netflix that’s so far produced Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher. Although unconfirmed, it was reported that Netflix would retain those current Marvel dramas, and any potential spinoffs, but no additional properties would be developed there.

Marvel Entertainment President Dan Buckley seemed to confirm that in Bloomberg’s article about the “glut” of superhero television shows, saying, “We obviously want the Marvel Television series currently on Netflix to have a long and lauded run.” However, he added, any new projects will seek new “networks and platforms that are the best fit for that content, including the Disney-branded streaming service.”

In addition to its Netflix dramas, Marvel currently has Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC, Runaways on Hulu and, beginning this summer, Cloak & Dagger on the Disney-owned Freeform. It also co-produces Legion on FX and The Gifted on Fox.
