Netflix’s Sabrina Series Casts My Friend Dahmer Lead in Major Role

Darkness is apparently attracted to darkness, as the role of Harvey Kinkle in Netflix’s upcoming Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will go to My Friend Dahmer star Ross Lynch. Lynch portrayed the infamous, twisted serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the film, but soon he will adopt the role of Sabrina Spellman’s long-time beau.

Harvey is Sabrina’s human boyfriend in the Archie comics of origin. As a human, Harvey has little or no understanding of the wider witching world, and therefore has no idea how many supernatural forces are constantly vying to keep the couple apart. The television series’ Harvey is described as the charming prince of a dark fantasy tale and the son of a coal miner.

Lynch’s inclusion rounds out the show’s cast, which has been steadily growing over the past several months. The show will be led by Kiernan Shipka’s Sabrina, while Wonder Woman’s Lucy Davis and Lord of the Rings’ Miranda Otto will play her aunts, Hilda and Zelda, respectively. Prior to his work on My Friend Dahmer, Lynch was best known for his role on the Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally.

The yet-titled series was initially developed as a tie-in to the already dark and moody world The CW’s Riverdale, but since being acquired by Netflix plans to meld the two worlds together have seemingly been abandoned. Riverdale actor Lili Reinhardt recently confirmed as much, stating that the two shows are effectively in “separate universes.”
