Pet Sematary Movie Poster Declares ‘Sometimes Dead Is Better’


The latest Stephen King adaptation, Pet Sematary, has released its first poster to ominous effect.

An adaptation of the classic 1983 horror novel of the same name, the atmospheric poster shows a disturbed grave full of unsettling bones as a shadowy figure approaches it with a shovel in hand.

The novel was previously adapted in 1989 by director Mary Lambert with the film’s screenplay written by King himself. The story follows a young family that moves to a small town in Maine only to discover the pet cemetery near their home is on ancient burial land and will resurrect anything buried in it with sinister results.

A new adaptation of was first greenlit by Paramount in 2010 before returning to active production last December after the success of last year’s adaptation of It. Principal photography on the upcoming horror film officially began this past June for an April release.

An adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name, Pet Sematary is directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kölsch (Starry Eyes). The film stars Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, and John Lithgow and is scheduled to be released on April 5, 2019.
