Almost half a year after its hit live action movie premiered, Sumino Yoru’s debut novel Let Me Eat Your Pancreas is also getting a theatrical anime adaptation.
The novel tells the story of an unnamed high school student who finds the diary of a classmate, Yamauchi Sakura, who is suffering from a terminal pancreatic illness. The protagonist is the only person outside her family to know of Sakura’s illness and commits himself to helping all her dreams come true before she dies.
The movie’s key visual features a poignant scene of Sakura and the unnamed protagonist underneath beautiful pink cherry blossoms.
Let Me Eat Your Pancreas is scheduled for release in Japanese cinemas this autumn, but the advertising campaign is set to begin from Jan. 15 with custom signage displayed at train stations in Tokyo and Osaka until Jan. 21.
