A third Bad Boys had been in various states of development for years with The A-Team director Joe Carnahan originally attached to helm the film for a 2018 release before dropping from the project. The previous film in the series, Bad Boys II, was released in 2003 while the original film was released in 1995, both directed by Michael Bay.
Carnahan has since been replaced by Moroccan filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah after the duo impressed the studio directing the episodes of the FX television series Snowfall along with their love for the first two films in the franchise.
